Critical Role: Titular Titling

As any fan of Critical Role knows, Laura Bailey’s Vex’Ahlia and Liam O’Brien’s Vax’Ildan have some truly spectacular father issues. This is in no small part because their father is kind of a douche bag. Having two children who are Half Elves when you are a person of importance in a prominent Elven city can cause that, though I get the feeling, from their back story, he didn’t really need much help.

All of which made their pending reunion with dear old dad all the more stressful for them. After the attack of the Chroma Conclave, an alliance of ancient chromatic dragons, the Elven city of Singhorn, where pops lives, shifted itself to the Feywild, another plane of existence. Cause when the going gets tough, Elves run away.

Well, these Elves. My Elves would have been the first to line up to kick some dragon ass, while trying to outdrink any Dwarves they could find, but that’s neither here nor there.

Anyway, as Vox Machina found themselves heading to the Feywild in order to hunt down a powerful magic item capable of helping them slay the dragons, they thought it was worth a try to get Singhorn to return and pitch in with the whole freeing the world plan. This meant a visit to daddy issues for the twins.

Which is where this clip comes in. Percy, never one to pass up a chance to rub his standing in someone’s face, decided to give Vex a bit of standing of her own. A little something to make dear old dad treat his daughter with a bit more respect.

The look on Laura’s face is what makes all of this so amazing, as does the reaction of the live audience the gang was playing in front of that night. Say what you want, but Taliesin really knows just when and where to drop the bomb. There’s a reason Critters call him No Mercy Percy, after all.
