Pretty much anyone who loves fantasy loves Lord of the Rings. It’s a given. Which is fair, as Lord of the Rings is pretty damn good, I think we can all agree. Except maybe that part with Tom Bombadill. I dunno what the fuck that shit was about.
Still, Lord of the Rings is more or less considered the best epic fantasy story ever written. I could debate that, but I won’t, since I don’t want a headache. What Lord of the Rings is not, however, is a very good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
Odds are, if you spend any amount of time on social media, you’ve seen images of scenes from the movies done with voice bubbles that turn the films into a D&D campaign. If you didn’t know, that’s the work of a dude named Shamus Young, who has a deeply twisted sense of humor that I greatly admire.
You can find his entire series of DM of the Ring over at his website, Twenty Sided, and the whole comic book feel mixed with movie stills, mixed with D&D terminology is pretty damn epic. Not to mention funny as hell.
Go check him out, and thank him for bringing such wonderful humor to the world.
